Google is certainly the mother of all minimalist web sites with a success nobody can deny.

On the lighter side, this trend has also the great advantage of removing the "I don't like this color..." argument.

Personally, I prefer by far web sites where design supports content: the minimalist approach is very much oriented toward this goal.

Hey Jacques

Before Goggle I had been using Yahoo!, Altavista, etc. to do my searching. I hated those sites because they were so crammed with ads and junk I didn't need.

Then came Google who simply put a search bar and a friendly logo on their site. It was like a breath of fresh air. I could get what I want done without wading through a bunch of stuff I didn't care a thing about.

The wonderful smell of sweet, sweet progress. :P

I was just wandering around Digg and found a nice post from <a href="http://www.cssjuice.com" rel="nofollow">css juice</a> that highlights <a href="http://cssjuice.com/25-cool-portfolios-with-minimalism-design/" rel="nofollow">25 portfolios that use a minimalist design</a>.

Thought readers of this article might find it interesting.

We recently reworked our mens club lacrosse team site: raleighlacrosseclub.com to have a 'clean' and simplified look. I was so tired of the pages to have pages approach so I went with a linkless site (for the most part). I agree with clean and simple.

Hey, I live in Raleigh...small world.

You guys went for the "one page" design as well as minimalist. I have done that before on some of my clients. Its funny though how resistant some people are to the "one page" thing because they think they are not getting their money's worth.

In the end they wind up with 5 pages that have like 10 words on them...clients are funny.

It is a small world. I am getting ready to launch the first Adobe Flex user group in the triangle area. We should get together, as I would like to have usability as one of the key points of focus.

Okay, I'm commenting today so I don't forget to write about your post tomorrow or Thursday - probably tomorrow as I fly out of RDU on a business trip.

p.s. yeah, let me know when you do that Flex thingie in the Triangle area. I'll want to enjoy some of that fun too!-)
